Some time in 2012, I wrote a web page about railway bridges in South Lynn. It was probably the first page on the Internet that discussed railway remnants around King’s Lynn. It had more impact than I could have imagined, inspiring other people to make much better and much more comprehensive sites about the subject than I ever intended to make.

And yet, I neglected that interest; after others took the torch, I sat on the sofa, and barely wrote any more on the subject. It was always on my mind that I must get around to writing down everything I know about Lynn’s railways, some day. That “later” turned into over a decade of procrastination, i.e. not doing it. Procrastination is a waste of a brain, and “not doing it” was at the least a waste of some fun facts, because I have probably forgotten more about King’s Lynn’s railways than most people knew in the first place.

I think these things are important to document. Some of the things I wrote about on the original page in 2012 have disappeared. Some are endangered. Some may live on for a while simply because there’s no reason yet to demolish them. This site is not eternal either, but writing all of this down gives it some hope of survival.

And then some things aren’t going to disappear any time soon, but I’ll write about them because I like them.
